Gloucester City Council, in partnership with Gloucester BID, is gearing up for the return of Gloucester Goes Retro when it takes over the city centre on Saturday 29 August.
More than 500 classic vehicles are expected to line Gloucester's historic Gate Streets and Docks for a celebration of motoring heritage, music, fashion and entertainment.
Part of Gloucesterโs Summer of Sound, live music will be in Kings Square and hosted by Gloster Swing Dance founders Gary and Sara Boon. The husband-and-wife team are two-time UK Lindy Hop Champions and will be bringing energy, expertise and plenty of vintage style to the heart of the city.
Visitors can also enjoy street performances from groups such as Kitsch n Sync, the acclaimed street theatre collective known for their unique blend of comedy and thought-provoking acts.
Popular competitions will once again form part of the day's entertainment, including the Best Dressed Awards and the Colin Organ Photo Competition.
Gloucester city centre recorded an estimated footfall of 51,769 during the event in 2025, helping to deliver a significant economic boost for local businesses. Retailers, cafรฉs, restaurants, pubs and other hospitality venues reported increased footfall and turnover throughout the day, highlighting the event's value in supporting the local economy and encouraging visitors to spend time and money in the city.
Gloucester Goes Retro was founded by the late Colin Organ, a long-serving Gloucester city councillor, former Mayor of Gloucester and passionate classic car enthusiast. His vision helped create an event that has grown into one of the region's most anticipated annual celebrations.
